Description
When a kitten arrives and budget is tight, Whiskas Junior is often the food owners turn to first. Whiskas Junior Mackerel is formulated for kittens 2–12 months, with higher protein and energy than the adult range, and an omega-rich fish profile that supports skin, coat and brain development during the critical first year.
Mackerel is a particularly good protein for kittens — naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids that support healthy growth and a soft, shiny coat. The kibble is small and easy for kitten teeth, and the strong fish flavour is highly palatable, useful for newly weaning kittens transitioning off mother's milk. The recipe is complete and balanced with the added taurine, calcium and vitamins that growing cats need.
Use Whiskas Junior from about 2 months (after weaning) through 12 months, then transition to Whiskas Adult or another adult formula over five to seven days. A 1.1kg pack lasts a single growing kitten roughly four to six weeks.
Key Ingredients
Cereals (including rice and corn), fish and fish derivatives (including mackerel), meat and animal derivatives, oils and fats, derivatives of vegetable origin, milk and milk derivatives, minerals, vitamins, taurine, calcium, antioxidants.
Why It's Good For Your Pet
- Affordable kitten care — one of the cheapest branded kitten foods on the BD market.
- Omega-rich growth — mackerel naturally provides omega-3 for coat and brain development.
- Easy palatability — fish flavour is highly accepted by kittens, smoothing the weaning transition.
- Brand familiarity — easy step into Whiskas Adult at 12 months — same brand, same digestive tolerance.
Honest Considerations
- Uses generic ingredient descriptors (e.g. 'fish and fish derivatives') rather than detailed sourcing.
- Contains grain and milk — not suitable for kittens with sensitivities to either.
- Budget-tier kitten nutrition — for premium support during the critical first year, Royal Canin Kitten is a major step up.
- Strong fish smell when opened — store sealed to keep aroma contained.
