Description
The first four months of a kitten's life — and the pregnancy and nursing period of the queen — are the most nutritionally demanding stages in a cat's life. Royal Canin Mother & Babycat is formulated specifically for both: it feeds the queen during pregnancy and lactation, then transitions naturally to the weaning kitten as their first solid food.
What makes this product special is the kibble itself: very small and ultra-soft, designed to be easily eaten by kittens with newly emerging teeth. You can serve it dry as kittens get older, or rehydrate it with warm water or kitten milk replacer in the early weaning weeks to create a soft mash. The formula is exceptionally nutrient-dense — high in protein, energy and antioxidants — to support both the demanding nutritional needs of a nursing mother and the rapid early growth of her kittens. For Bangladeshi breeders and rescue carers raising orphan kittens, this is the go-to bridge food after milk replacer.
Use Mother & Babycat from late pregnancy through weaning, then continue feeding kittens until about four months old. After four months, transition gradually over five to seven days to Royal Canin Kitten (4–12 months) or a comparable kitten formula.
Key Ingredients
Dehydrated poultry protein, animal fats, rice, maize flour, hydrolysed animal proteins, vegetable protein isolate, dehydrated fish protein, beet pulp, minerals, fish oil, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), psyllium husks, soya oil, vitamins and trace elements, lutein, taurine, antioxidants.
Why It's Good For Your Pet
- Smooth weaning transition — the soft, rehydratable kibble bridges the gap from mother's milk to solid food.
- Healthy queen, healthy litter — feeds the nursing mother properly so she can produce quality milk and recover faster after birth.
- Orphan-kitten support — one of the few foods soft enough for early weaning when raising kittens without a mother.
- Royal Canin quality — the same precision nutrition standards as the rest of the brand.
Honest Considerations
- Designed for a specific life-stage window (pregnancy through 4 months) — not suitable as a long-term food.
- Premium pricing — significantly more expensive than mainstream alternatives.
- Only useful if you have kittens or a pregnant/nursing cat — wrong choice for adult or senior cats.
- Contains grain — not a grain-free option.
Feeding Guide
Pregnant/nursing cat: feed free-choice (always available) from late pregnancy through weaning. Weaning kitten (3–5 weeks): rehydrate with warm water or milk replacer to make a mash, offer several times a day. Older kitten (6 weeks–4 months): offer dry or moistened, free-choice, throughout the day.
