Hay is not optional for rabbits — it's essential. The long fibres in hay keep the rabbit's digestive system moving (gut stasis, where the digestive system stops, is a veterinary emergency in rabbits), wear down continuously growing teeth that would otherwise become dangerously overgrown, and provide mental and physical enrichment through foraging behaviour.
Timothy hay is the gold standard for adult rabbits — it's high in fibre, lower in protein and calcium than legume hays like alfalfa (which is appropriate only for young rabbits under 6 months). Orchard grass is a palatable alternative for rabbits who find timothy too stemmy. Meadow hay provides variety.
Our hay range is sourced for freshness, greenness, and palatability — a hay rabbits won't eat enthusiastically is a problem, so quality matters. We stock hay in various pack sizes from trial packs through to bulk bags.
