Catnip (Nepeta cataria) triggers a euphoric response in approximately 50–70% of cats through a chemical called nepetalactone. Affected cats roll, rub, vocalise, and generally appear delighted for 5–15 minutes, followed by a refractory period of around 30 minutes. It's completely safe and non-addictive.
